Atlantic Autosport Grand Am Challenger

Atlantic Autosport has called on HCR to provide design assistance for their newly formed race team.  Two new Dodge Challengers will be fielded in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge next season.  Dodge along with Petty's Garage will be the team's sponsors and will also provide engineering support.

I have worked with Mikah at Atlantic Autosport to develop the current livery seen here.  Since Richard Petty is directly involved with the team he has allowed us to use his historic racing colors and the number 43.

To get the press excited about this new venture Atlantic Autosport vinyl wrapped Richard's personal Challenger and took it to the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.  After the show, the car was taken to Jay Leno's Garage for a taping of Jay's web series.  Although the focus of the video is on the Petty's Garage limited edition Challenger series, you still get to see a little bit of what the real race cars will look like down the line.

Craftsman Tools Ultimate Truck Buildout

Source Interlink Media had HCR jump into gear when Craftsman Tools asked them to build three custom trucks for SEMA 2010.  In the span of only two weeks the three new Ford trucks were designed, built, and delivered to Las Vegas for the big show.

I was involved from the very beginning of this fast paced project providing concept designs of the trucks for the initial meetings between Source Interlink and Craftsman.  From there I worked with the editors of Hot Rod, Diesel Power, and 4 Wheel and Off Road magazines to nail down the specifics of each build.  Each magazine would have their own truck that fit with their magazine's subject matter.

Hot Rod Magazine F-150
Hot Rod Magazine was given a two-wheel drive Super Crew F-150 that received a satin clear finish from Pete Santini.  A Ground Force lowering system and 22" KMC wheels completed the look.

4WOR Magazine F-150
4 Wheel and Off Road Magazine took delivery of a 4x4 F-150 and promptly installed a Pro-Comp lift system that allowed for clearance of the new KMC wheels and BFG tires.  An Edelbrock E-Force supercharger was installed as well.
Diesel Power F-250
Diesel Power Magazine ended up with the crowd favorite, a Power Stroke F-250 that also received a new suspension system.

All the trucks were then taken to Galpin Autosports where the HCR designed vinyl graphics were installed.

Watch out for an upcoming episode of Hot Rod TV chronicling the builds.

A special thanks goes out to publisher Jerry Pitt for keeping the builds in line and on time!

SEMA 2010: Ford Design Award Winner

Once again the team at Pure Vision has outdone themselves.  Ford's designers selected the Anvil Mustang as this year's "Best of Show" at SEMA 2010.  This highest award is reserved for Ford vehicles that exemplify superior design implementation and execution.

As if the Ford Design Award wasn't enough, the Mustang also received a Mother's Top 10 award.  I'm proud to say that I was able to be part of this amazing build by providing the initial concept art and also designing the instrumentation.

Custom Gauge Design for NRE

Nelson Racing Engines called me up to design a one-off instrument cluster for a '63 Cadillac they were building.  The Cadillac might be huge, but the 14-71 blown big block will push it along just fine.
The stock '63 dash
To keep track of the vitals of such an engine you need more than just a temperature warning light.  A full set of instruments are required, but those instruments can be hard to neatly package.  I came up with a few ideas that retained the overall look of the stock dash, but still offered a full complement of gauges.
Initial ideas for the '63 dash
Tom Nelson decided the idea for a long sweep tach that replaced the speedometer was just too cool to not implement into the design.  With the decision made we sent the imagery over to Shannon at Redline Gauge Works

You can check out this article from Hot Rod Magazine for more information on how these custom gauges are built.

Popular Hot Rodding's Newest Project Vehicle

Christopher Campbell over at Popular Hot Rodding Magazine called up HCR to help design their newest project vehicle, a '67 XR7 Mercury Cougar.
Rendering of the new project
You can find more details here, and you can follow along with the build in upcoming issues of Popular Hot Rodding.

Reggie Hamilton's '67 Chevelle

This car has been in the works for sometime now and it promises to be one of the most detailed Chevelles you've ever seen.  The custom 600ci+ BBC pumping out over 1,000hp has already been assembled and installed onto the amazingly detailed chassis.
Finished chassis at the Portland Roadster Show
Now the focus is shifting from the chassis to the finishing of the body which will retain a stock appearance apart from the trick custom hood.
Finished rendering of the exterior
HCR will be involved in the design of the interior as well, so check back for more details in the future.

Vest Racing on a Record Run

I've been working with Vest Racing for a little while now creating their new logo and also coming up with liveries for their possible sponsors.  This season they are absolutely destroying the competition in the Protruck Series.  They have finished in first place for seven out of the eight races thus far!
